Concerning the education of children who are multi-handicapped blind or deaf-blind:

• Training courses for teachers within the country*
• Training courses for other related professionals*
• Leadership training for lead professionals at Perkins
• On-site consultation to schools by Perkins staff
• Parent training and formation of parent organizations
• On-site consultation regarding University curricula
• Translation of literature in the field
• Regional seminars which several countries attend
• Identification of regional specialists/resource people
• Justification of services to government agencies
• Applications to other funding sources

*Training may be planned and conducted by the Perkins staff and host country staff jointly, or it may be planned by the Perkins staff and host country, but carried out by specialists from other countries.

Other personnel who can receive training include assistants, clinical service specialists, such as psychologists and physiotherapists, residential staff, etc. Training is also available for administrators on such subjects as program development and management.
